Friday 13^th January: Day 6

I take it you’ve noticed the date - Friday 13^th.

I love it!

This is when we expect to get disillusioned.

On Day 6.

Friday 13^th.

We’ve been checking in and quietly logging onto God –

Now is when we begin to wonder why...?

Is it really making any difference?

Do we feel God any closer?

Why do we bother?

No relationship is full on all the time.

No relationship is easy all the time.

There are dips and surges...

There are highs and lows...

Ups and downs

And all stages in between.

In human relationships,

Sometimes couples talk for hours

Other times they sit in companionable silence

And yet other times they can feel not just miles

but planets

apart.

But if they want to be together

then they take the loud with the quiet....

They take the hard with the easy...

The rough with the smooth.

God never walks out on us.

Spirit of God,

You are already with me.

Help me to feel you.

Son of God,

Come closer and help me to trust in you.

When it’s hard to know you are there...

When I’m unsure of your presence,

When I can’t be certain you hear –

Then give me the courage to hang in there

And to trust...

Even if I’m not sure -

I don’t want to let go of you...

I need to know you exist

You care

Care for me...

But you too need to know I care....

You need to know,

Even in the long silences when I say nothing,

that I am open to you...

to your Spirit.

In the volatile times,

When I kick against you -

Then too you need to know I’m upset because I care –

Care about others

And you

Yes you....

You confuse me sometimes...

You make me wonder

But I need you.
