Tuesday 24^th January: Day 17

Sheesh! 

It can be hard remembering to let God love you,

Then loving yourself

So that you can look beyond and love others!

The danger is we think it’s all too much

Too hard

And just give up.

DON’T

Because we’re all in the same boat

And some days we’ll do all three things reasonably well

While on other days

We’ll be lucky if we remember

Even one of the three ‘loves’...

The trick is in learning to set the times we fail,

Aside –

And then just starting again the next day.

Afresh.

Which, by the way, is what God suggests we do,

Have a clean slate,

A fresh start, he says.

He calls it forgiveness.

And like being loving,

God is pretty good at forgiving

Even when it comes to us...

Then he asks us to forgive ourselves.

And to forgive others...

Mmmm...

Does that cycle

sound familiar?

Lord God,

I need all the fresh starts I can get

Since I muck things up so often.

Thank you for never giving up on me –

But help me not to give up on myself.

May I find the courage

to let me off the hook today

so that I can make the most of the opportunities it holds...

Now take a deep breath – and breathe in through your nose...

Sniff long and hard...

The cleanest of clean starts lies before you.
